Kirk Deighton Neighbourhood Watch
WhatsApp Group
We now have a WhatsApp group set-up for the Village for Neighbourhood Watch. This is open to anyone in the Village to receive and share up-to-date information on any recorded crime or suspicious activity in or near the village. Security reminders might be also be sent from time to time as well. The hope is that this might help reduce further crime. The Group is called “KDNW & 101”. The 101 is added as a reminder that you can phone North Yorkshire Police at any time by dialling 101, when you have a police matter to report that does not require an immediate response. If a crime is taking place, or somebody is in immediate danger – you should always call 999.
The advantage of the WhatsApp group is that it allows us to share information instantaneously in the most efficient manner. Please note this group is not to be used about general village matters, adverts or as a general social media tool. Regretfully, members will be removed from the group if they repeatedly use it for the wrong purpose.
If you would like to join the group or have any questions, please message Miles Martin on 0788 765 8195. You will need to have WhatsApp downloaded on a smartphone. No more than one member per household please, to keep numbers to a minimum. For those who don’t have WhatsApp, we would ask members to pass messages on verbally to neighbours who wish to be kept informed.
GDPR – please note that to join you agree to your name and mobile number being shared with the group. You also agree for your details to be kept on a list on a computer protected by a password. You may unsubscribe at any time and your details will be removed.
North Yorkshire Community Messaging
In addition to the WhatsApp Group, if you would like to receive North Yorkshire alerts about crimes, crime appeals, scams to be aware of and ways you can get involved with North Yorkshire Police in your community you can sign up at the following website: www.northyorkshire.police.uk/nycm . The website will ask for details about your address so they can send updates which relate to your geographical area. The alerts will come by email from Neighbourhood Alert alert@neighbourhoodalert.co.uk. You can cancel the alerts at any time.
